To be safe, at all times, while cutting the turf that is a major part of your home residential area, is what it is all about this spring! As a mater of fact, you should be extremely careful in all four seasons and especially if you have your children helping and learning how to be safe around lawnmowers.

Little Rugrats!

So how is it that some parents teach their little rugrats how to safely and at the same time, effectively operate a lawnmower while keeping all ten fingers and all ten toes as well? It all comes down to being patient and being correct in the instructions of how to safely operate a Kohler Engined lawnmower.

Safety Warnings

To make things a bit more clear, I have decide to post a few standardized safety warnings, that can be found on all of the wonderful, Kohler Carburetor Parts units so that you, as a caring, instructional giving parent, can offer your children only the best in safety and effective turf trimming.

WARNING—Indicates the presence of a hazard that can cause severe personal injury, death or substantial property damage if the warning is ignored.

CAUTION—Indicates the presence of a hazard that will or can cause minor personal injury or property damage if the caution is ignored.

NOTE—Indicates installation, operation or maintenance information that is important but not hazard-related.

Now teach those kiddos well and you will see a ROI in under a month as your kids will be able to cut the yard and even find time to wash the old truck as well!

When it comes to lawnmower safety, one of the areas that is sometimes overlooked is that of the ‘deadly at all times’, exhaust gases. Kohler Engine exhaust gases contain poisonous carbon monoxide that is the number one reason for trips to the emergency rooms and outpatient centers, the country over. I will not give all of you Kohler Engine Parts area readers the bare facts concerning the number of deaths that are attributable to exhaust fumes, but trust me when I say that this number is higher than you might think, unfortunately.

CO2

The main toxin in the exhaust gases of lawnmowers is carbon monoxide. Odorless, colorless and can cause death if inhaled, carbon monoxide is a deadly chemical indeed and one that needs to be respected and acknowledged.

WARNING

The warning labeling, which is or should be found on any and all Kohler Engines, is the one that reads: WARNING—Carbon monoxide can cause severe nausea, fainting or death. Do not operate machinery in a closed building or confined area. Avoid inhaling exhaust fumes and never run the engine in a garage!

Preemergence Herbicides

Kohler Engine Parts - Winter Weed Control Starts in Soil

We all realize that weeds are plants and inasmuch as these invaders are about the same as any other plant species, it is wise to understand how best to deal with these unsightly lawn crashers! Weeds start off as a seed just like most naturally-occurring plants in your lawn. Since these plants begin their ruinous journey through the earth to your turf, we will attack them at their source, the soil.

Preemergence herbicides attack the weed problem at the core of their existence, in the soil, long before they emerge as burdensome lawn issues. Germinating seeds are the target of any good preemergence herbicide and these products are great as natural, chemical-free weed eradicators. We have come a long way here at this Kohler Engine Parts site and we wanted you all to realize how deeply we care about not only the care and safe operation of a Kohler engine unit, but of your safety and your care as well.

To really be an effective deterrent to the rush of unwanted weeds that will come in only a few short, cold months, you need to attack the germinating seeds while they are relatively defenseless in the soil. A good rule of thumb is to apply the herbicide two to three weeks before weed seeds germinate. We need to tell you all that preemergence herbicides are most effective against annual weeds but while significantly reduce the number of perennial weeds and grass weeds consequentially.

Have a great winter and we will see you back here shortly with more weed eradication information!

The cold days and colder nights are upon us all and the need for a reliable, constant, and energy-efficient power source, is now not only a desire but also a requirement. This is why it is vitally important, especially if you live in a remote area of the country, where utility lines are not so frequent, that you have a backup power source just in case the power goes out.

In today’s posting from us here at this Kohler Generator Parts location, we will be addressing the need for a generator that can stand up to a few days of constant running and give you enough power, to at the very least, operate the essentials of life. Heat for the home and hot water are two of the requirements for a blackout or power failure. You and your family can go without the entertainment sources such as a television set or the laptop for a little while, but when it is bone-chilling cold outside, heat is a necessity.

This is why we wanted to tell you about the 20 kw Kohler Residential Generators / 20RES that are very popular for backup power sources the nation over. These power generators will be all you need to get you and your family though even an extended period of power outages.

If you happen to be stuck in the house without power, even for a day in the winter, you will be glad and warm that you decided to learn more about a backup generator.

Have a safe and happy winter!

Fine. Christmas is over and once again, I received a couple presents while doling out hundreds of dollars in gifting monies to my little tribe. No respect for the daddy-o once more and that’s perfectly fine with me as it is professional basketball season and my revenge is me laying flat on the couch watching too many NBA games!

So I owe I owe, it’s off to work I go…

In today’s Kohler Engine presentation, we are going to speak just a little about the recoil starter on that fine engine of yours. To be more specific, we are going to give you the stripped down, after Christmas special on how to repair and or replace this starter. In most cases, you will have to replace the recoil starter as repairing this unit is out of the question and most of the time, not worth the time or the labor as these essential units are relatively inexpensive. However, in this terrible economy where every dollar is important, we will show you how to repair that starter, just in case.

As most of you good people out there already know, the time will come when you will be forced to do something with that starter issue. When you’re Kohler engined lawnmower, string trimmer or other tool’s pull cord goes slack, starting the engine becomes impossible. Yet, have no fear, as we are here to show you how to replace that bad starter and replace it with a brand new, fresh out of the box recoil starter!

Repairing the Recoil Starter on a Kohler Engine

1. Remove the Recoil Housing Cap and Unscrew the Cap

2. Untie the Starter Rope

3. Replace Parts (If Required)

4. Switch out the Pulley, Housing or Spring if Needed

5. Re-Tension the Spring

6. Attach the Cap

7. Reinstall the Rope

7. Coil the Cord

If you have an issue with your Kohler engine, it is best that you think as a mechanic does, but not overcharge yourself at the very same time! A mechanic utilizes the systematic approach to engine problem solving before he or she places a wrench on the unit. What this means is that the problem is first diagnosed and then, when it is abundantly clear as to why the engine is not running or running incorrectly, then and only then is the labor put into action.

DIY

Here at this Kohler Engine Parts site, we know a thing or two about doing this yourself and this is why we started the business of supplying the United States and the world for that matter with the best and OEM produced and distributed Kohler Engine replacement parts.

Short and Sweet

In this posting, we have racked our heads and came up with a listing of what are some of the most common engine problems that you will face from time to time, and have made sure the list is not too time consuming or exhaustive. We understand that it is the holidays and that if you had the time to read a long and drawn out write-up on anything for that matter, then you would be all done with your shopping and we know that is just not the case!

Make certain that you follow any and all directions for repairing any part on your Kohler Engine and as always, be safe.

Engine Will Not Crank

Cranks – Will Not Start

Runs Rough on Low & Will Not Accelerate

Backfires on Full Throttle

Engine Not Running (After Hot Test)

Stops on High Idle

Hot – Will Not Restart

Cannot Reach High Idle RPM (No Load)

Come back after the holidays and we will be highlighting some of these issues and how best to repair them and save money as well!

Merry Christmas

Did you know that during the holidays, the cases of accidental electrical shock increase by 50%? It is true and just as true as the issue of a faulty electrical connection in the home being the cause of these potentially life-threatening zaps, outside sources for a shocking conclusion to a day of replacing sparkplugs or drive belts on the lawnmowers and weed trimmers, are increased as well. You should know that if you are going to be working on any type of electrical unit and that unit happens to be connected to a 120 or 240 volt electrical connection for say recharging purposes, that you always learn what we are going to tell you right now on this Kohler Parts Online resource as it just might save your life.

Electrical Shock

Please burn this into your cerebral cortex and think about electrical safety perpetually as you toil on the charged up units and other potentially life-threatening sources. “Never touch electrical wires or components while the engine is running or being charged by an external source”. Both areas of charging concern can be sources of electrical shock and can kill you. We understand that is a bit rough and straightforward of us to say to you but it is only because we do not want to minimize the dangers of electrical shock.
