After all that you and that lawn mower have been through, is it now time for you to pay a little more attention to the heart and soul of that unit? Kohler Engine Parts understands this relationship, and that is why we wanted to offer you a bit of respite from having to battle the blue smoke haze.

Blowing Blue Smoke
If your lawn mower engine is now blowing blue smoke when idling, does it smoke blue as you are cutting the lawn as well? Chances are you have worn out valve guide oil seals in your engine. We will show you how easy it is to replace them and with a few simple hand tools and a little bit of labor.
Instructions and Items You’ll Need
· Wrench Set
· Socket Set
· Hammer
· Valve Spring Tool (Kohler)
· Pliers
· Screwdriver
Locate the intake valves on your engine. There is a replaceable valve stem seal on most Kohler overhead valve engines. You can replace the valve seal without removing the head, but you have to be careful that the valve is not dropped into the cylinder when you have the retainer off or then the head will have to come off. For this one we will have to default you to the owner’s manual and if that gets you nowhere, then it is off to the lawn mower repair shop for you!
